The project envisages the construction of three small hydro power plants in the North West remote region of Uganda and the rehabilitation of one plant in the South West. These sites should be off-grid, but could also be connected to the grid later, depending on the result of the studies. They will contribute to the improvement of the isolated power grid system in the North West of Uganda and enhance access to electricity for the population.
The EU-AITF technical assistance grant will be used to finance the feasibility studies and ESIA of 3 potential mini hydro power plants in the remote area of West Nile in Uganda and of the rehabilitation of a fourth mini hydro site in South Uganda.
